Designing the materials of the future

Polymer science labWhen we hear the term ‘polymer’, many of us think of plastic, the ubiquitous product filling our shopping aisles and homes. But with rising concerns surrounding healthcare and the future of our environment at the fore, researchers in the Polymers Labs are working to develop revolutionary new materials.

One project, with Professor Greg Qiao in collaboration with the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), is developing a technique to grow cornea tissue that greatly reduces the risk of rejection.
