Melbourne Accelerator Program named top Australian startup incubator

The University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP) has been ranked number 1 in Australia and number 8 worldwide by the UBI Index, a Swedish Research Initiative comparing business incubators globally.

This year MAP has supported eight startups, created two places in their accelerator program and secured a partnership with Australia Post reinforcing their achievements in reaching this top ranking.

“It’s wonderful to see MAP recognised internationally as a benchmark accelerator program,” says MAP Director Rohan Workman, “there are many talented entrepreneurs around the University and we’re looking forward to supporting even more of these into the future.”

UBI aims to drive efficiency and competitiveness in university incubation programs, providing a comprehensive benchmark of top university business incubators. This year the final participants were selected by assessing 1200 incubators, where 340 incubators from 64 countries were retained for the benchmark.
